USS LST-836 underway. Preparing to load or unload amphibious units.

USS LST-836 underway. Note the fuel drums stored against the hull. The front doors are open, ready to load/unload amphibious vehicles; her protecting guns, scan the horizon.

USS LST-836 has an interesting and varied history. She served in World War II, Korean War, the Vietname War, and supported the early atomic and hydrogen bomb tests in the Pacific Proving Grounds in 1952. She was eventually transfered to the Singapore Navy.
