Subj: Your Appointment to the Grade of Petty Officer, United States Navy

1. I extend to you my warmest congratulations of your appointment as Storekeeper Third Class. Also, I take this occasion to impress upon you the seriousness and importance of your office as Petty Officer, United States Navy.

2. Training, morale, and discipline of the Navy are the responsibilities at all times.

3. Each Petty Officer of the Navy must meet the increasing demands for technical and professional skill. But first and foremost, he must maintain the traditional standards of loyalty, justice, tenacity of purpose, attention to duty, and sustained devotion to the ideals of leadership, morale, and discipline which are the strength of our service.

4. It is your task to justify the confidence placed upon you in your new office.
